Greeting
It is a great honor for me to be able to chair the Fiscal 2008 Society of
Indoor Environment Japan General Meeting at Tower Hall Funabori, Edogawa, Tokyo,
December 1- 2, 2008, and I thank all of the members of the society for creating
this opportunity.
In recent years, we have become aware of many problems in the indoor environment
that affect health.
This society seeks to uncover the source of those problems and use that
information to develop proper solutions to prevent them from occurring, and thus
promote the maintenance of health. This society has the same important mission.
The Society of Indoor Environment Japan will provide the latest information on
chemical substances indoors and micro-organic contamination. We also expect that
by revealing new factors of the indoor environment, they will define new issues
that affect health.
This year’s general meeting is hoping to raise public awareness of indoor
environmental problems even further by casting a wide net for presentations
related to the theme of “protecting health.”
The fiscal 2008 general meeting is being held in Funabori, Tokyo, which is
bordered by Tokyo Disneyland and the famous Shiodome and Odaiba areas on one
side, and on the other by the Edo River, which overflows with the warmth of the
Shitamachi area and old Tokyo. Though we only have a short time here, we are
prepared to put on an event that shows that the indoor environment is just as
important as the outdoor environment. I warmly encourage you to attend the
fiscal 2008 Society of Indoor Environment Japan General Meeting.
